Planning picture windows
Discuss glass size, access for installation and the surrounding ventilation plan.
Options and tradeoffs
Compare glass size, frame sightlines and glazing choices with the view and room use. Because the unit does not open, discuss ventilation needs separately rather than assuming a large fixed window supplies them.
How to scope the work
The installer confirms measurements, access and support requirements before delivery. Larger fixed units need a planned handling route, followed by careful fitting, perimeter sealing and inspection of the surrounding finishes.
Comparing estimates
Ask whether large-unit handling, access equipment and protection of the room are included. Identify the exact glazing package and any associated trim or opening repairs rather than quoting glass area alone.
After the project
Clean both accessible faces using the manufacturer's instructions and inspect visible perimeter joints. Report condensation between panes or water entry for assessment while keeping product labels and installation records available.
